Open edition canvas print by indigenous New Zealand Māori artist, Taryn Beri of the Ngāti Toa, Te Atiawa and Ngāti Raukawa tribes.
'Āhuru Mōwai' by Taryn Beri.
This painting refers to a 'cosy haven' which is the womb of a woman in which a baby grows during pregnancy. The artist states 'I painted this when my baby daughter was young. It is a statement of aroha (love) that a mother feels for her child. It is about the amniotic fluid in the womb that feeds the baby, the DNA material and the ancestors that came before the baby to create the unique mix of whakapapa (genealogy) which the baby inherits through its parents.'
This canvas would make a meaningful and special gift for new parents or a new baby.
